Temperatures to plunge as country grapples with cold snap

A status yellow low temperature and ice warning has now been issued for the whole country from tomorrow evening.

The country is bracing itself for bitterly cold and disruptive conditions as the cold snap leaves its mark. 

Dublin will be under a Status Yellow snow and ice warning from 5pm this evening. 

While, a new Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning has been issued for the whole country from tomorrow evening. 

Aoife Kealy is a meteorologist with Met Eireann, and outlines what conditions could be like:

“Along South and East Coast most will fall as rain and sleet but there will be some localised snowfall is parts of Dublin, now mostly that will be in the Mountains, and much of it will fall as rain and sleet.”

But, with temperatures set to hover at freezing over the coming days, it’s unclear how long this cold snap will persist.
