Strictly Come Dancing has been a staple of weekend viewing on the BBC for over 20 years. It has been considered the ultimate glitzy feel-good TV show – with glittering costumes, show-stopping routines, romances and teary goodbyes. But things have shifted considerably in the past six months with mounting allegations coming to the fore.
Actress Amanda Abbington, who pulled out of last year’s show, has claimed her partner Sicilian professional dancer Giovanni Pernice was “cruel and abusive”. Pernice has strenuously denied “any claim of threatening or abusive behaviour”.
