Bringing together families, farmers, urban growers and neighbourhoods to celebrate Dublin’s food scene, Eat the Streets! lands at the Richmond Barracks on Saturday, 14 September. There will be cook alongs, talks on food waste, cooking workshops, lunchtime walking tours, after lunch chats, kids entertainment and more.

Punch Lion Kids Comedy

Punch Lion and the Office of Public Works are bringing a family-friendly comedy event to the Farmleigh House and Estate on Sunday, 15 September. Running from 12pm-5pm, there will be stand-up comedy shows aimed at those aged 6+ (they must attend with an adult), workshops, story-telling, silly circus performers, music and games on the green.

Kelly Shatter will facilitate comedy workshops for children aged 5 – 7 and 8 – 12. Fighting Words will facilitate a writing workshop, while the Fanzini Brothers will present their Impossible Circus. There will also be a Farmleigh Farmers Market running from 10am to 5pm. Entry is free.

Dublin Painting & Sketching Exhibition

Art fans will have the chance to visit the 146th annual exhibition of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club – a club that is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Formed in 1874, the club aims to ‘bring together artists, amateurs and others interested in art and the holding of public exhibitions.’ This year’s exhibition runs until 21 September in the Townhall, Windmill Lane, Dublin 2. Admission is free.

NB: The venue will be open until 8pm on Culture Night, the 20 September, with a live music performance and painting demonstrations by a selection of our members.

The Big Screen Movie Quiz

Are you a movie buff? Or maybe you just love to take part in a little friendly competition? On Thursday, 12 September, you can kick start your weekend early with a Big Screen Movie Quiz in the Hen’s Teeth. Presented on the big screen with audio, video and pictures, this night will feature plenty of prizes and plenty of fun. Doors open at 7pm, quiz runs from 8pm – 10pm. Seating is limited and tickets cost €23.50.

Urban Harvest Festival

Located beside Dundrum Shopping Centre, Airfield’s 38-acre farm and gardens are the perfect place to try your hand at a little faming. This new family-friendly festival aims to deepen people’s understanding and appreciation of agricultural traditions such as sheep-shearing, sheep-dog trials, wool spinning, hedge laying and butter-making. The event runs on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 with tickets costing €8 – €15.

Fiadhnait Canning is a young woman with Down Syndrome who earned her certificate in Psychology from Yale University in Psychology before writing a book entitled In my own Words. Her most recent self-advocacy project is called Second Chance Dance.

On Saturday, September 14, this event will give those who missed out on their Debs a second chance to have a spin on the dancefloor with fun, food, and a live performance from Sing Along Social.

The event will take place at The Odeon with full priced tickets costing €45 and unwaged/unemployed tickets costing €15. Price will cover two drink tickets (beer, wine or soft drinks) and a BBQ dinner.
