A GoFundMe has raised almost €60,000 for the children of a married couple who died in a hit and run incident in Blanchardstown, Dublin on St Stephen’s Day.

Shortly before 6pm on December 26th, Georgina Hogg Moore, 39, and her husband Anthony Hogg, 40, were struck by a car as they walked home from the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, leaving their children Ryan and Becky-Joy without parents.

The couple had been shopping in the Christmas sales before they were struck by an Audi A7 close to the entrance of the shopping centre.

Now, the family of the couple say they have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the support they’ve received from the public to help them in the aftermath of the tragedy.

GoFundMe page set up to help Ryan and Becky-Joy has since raised almost €60,000.

A vigil was also held in support of the family following Georgina and Anthony’s death, while the couple will be laid to rest together on Friday, with mourners asked to wear bright colours to reflect the couple’s personalities.

Please pray for their beautiful children and family.’

The driver failed to remain at the scene at the time, but a man has since been charged in connection with the incident after presenting himself to gardaí at Blanchardstown hours after the tragedy.

John Halpin, 45, of Whitestown Avenue in Dublin, appeared at Dublin District Court on Monday where he was charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and two counts of hit and run, including failing to offer assistance at the scene. He was remanded into custody.

Georgina and Anthony will be laid to rest on Friday January 3 following mass at 11am at the Church of St Philip the Apostle in Mountainview.
