Drivers will be hoping that the weather picking up as the day progresses leads to some less stressful traveling conditions.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: ‘Mostly cloudy in Dublin on Monday morning with patchy rain and drizzle moving in from the northwest. Any rain or drizzle will largely clear during the afternoon with the chance of some sunny spells developing.

‘Highest temperatures of 12 to 14C in moderate northwest winds.’
