Travel chaos on busy road as Dublin Fire Brigade rush to multi-vehicle crash

THE N7 Naas road experienced delays this evening after a traffic collision.

Motorists were warned to expect delays as gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene on the N7 Naas Road inbound at Newlands Cross flyover.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the crash, which was reported to be a multi-vehicle collision.

The collision blocks the left and middle lanes, with most traffic only going on the right lane.

Dublin Fire Brigade is currently at the scene and they have enforced lane restrictions as they attend the incident.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland warned drivers to expect delays and follow the instructions of emergency services.

TII said: “Collision ahead!! Between J1a Newlands Cross and J1 M50/N7.

“Multi vehicle collision. Lanes 1 and 2 affected. Delays to your journey will occur. Consider a different journey route or start time.

“When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and obey instructions from emergency services.”

AA Roadwatch has warned that delays of seven minutes on the N7 Naas Road inbound are being recorded.

They wrote: “Delays of seven minutes and delays easing on N7 Eastbound in Kingswood.

“Average speed 20 kph.”

However, it is believed that the traffic condition is starting to ease up as TII confirmed that the incident has been cleared.

FATAL ROAD CRASH

Separately, a man in his 20s has been killed following a fatal road crash in Co Cork last night.

Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene of a fatal road collision at Cecilstown, Co Cork early yesterday.

The collision occurred at around 5.10pm and involved two vehicles.

The driver of one car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead.

The driver of a second car, also a man in his 20s, was rushed to Cork University Hospital.

His injuries are being described as serious.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision at Cecilstown, Co.Cork this evening, Friday, 15th November, 2024.

“The collision involved two cars and occurred at approximately 5.10pm. The driver in one of these cars, a man aged in his 20s, was fatally injured.

“The driver of the second car, a man aged in his 20s, has been taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as serious.”
