Two Dublin restaurants have been included in Big 7’s round up of the 50 best steaks in Europe.
The Butcher Grill and FX Buckley were both named on the list of the most succulent and expertly made steaks in Europe, joining restaurants from France, Greece, Spain and more.
The list was compiled by Big 7, a travel site and media company that specialises in rounding up the best experiences, food and drink spots and activities around the world. Drawing from recommendations and tips from readers, the editorial team also add in their contributions, curating a selection of top 50 lists across food, travel and more.

The Butcher Grill, located in Ranelagh clocked in at an impressive no. 5. This restaurant specialises in both meat and fish sourced from artisan producers, all cooked over a wood-fired grill. The intimate dining spot was praised by the Big 7 editors for its “personalised service, inviting cosy atmosphere and variation of prime steak cuts”.
“Here, mouth-watering and tender cuts of steak are brought to your table, followed by the most decadent desserts and the best reds, whites and rosés”, they write. “Plus, they serve one of the best Sunday Roasts in the city!”
FX Buckley, the well-known purveyor of fine meats across the country, was listed at no. 21, and the editors restated their reputation as “Ireland’s top steak restaurant”.
This, they say, “is down to its perfectly seared and richly-flavoured authentic Irish steaks, premium wines and additional meat and seafood dishes. Here, the atmosphere, convenient location and world-class service have been highly praised among both locals and visitors alike.”

Founding out the top 5 were AG in Stockholm, Sweden, serving authentic porterhouse and upmarket cuts of steak; CUT in London, founded by world-renowned Austrian chef Wolfgang Puck; and Bodega El Capricho in León, Spain, a family-run specialty steak restaurant.
And finally, topping the list, is Le Relais de L’Entrecôte in Paris, France, an understated and classic bistrot that is as popular on TikTok and Instagram as it is with seasoned travellers who come from all over to eat its simple take on steak and frites.
You’ll likely have seen videos of their juicy steaks, thin and crispy fries and pools of peppercorn sauce, and they’re enough to tempt you into buying a plane ticket.
