Gardaí have arrested two men as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected insider trading.

The investigation was launched after gardaí from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau were alerted to a number of transactions by the Central Bank of Ireland.

The men were arrested earlier today.

They are currently being detained at a garda station in Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí said there would be no spokesperson available to comment on the case as it is an “ongoing criminal investigation”.

Insider trading involves the use of material non-public information to trade shares.

It is illegal unless that information is public or not material.
