FC 2 Korriku 2-1 UCD

UCD fell to a 2-1 loss against FC 2 Korriku of Kosovo in the first leg of the UEFA Youth League second round, but will head back to Dublin still believing they can turn this around in the return fixture on 6 November.

The Students pulled off a brilliant 5-3 aggregate win against Stjarnan in Iceland earlier this month to progress to a tough tie against the Kosovans.

They made a bright start too in the city of Pristina, with Roy Lawlor and Harry Whelan and both threatening inside the first 15 minutes.

Just before the half-hour mark, UCD hit the front when Lawlor fired home.

Lis Berisha equalised in the 42nd minute and he netted again on 59 minutes for what proved to be the winner.

UCD will have their work cut out to keep their European journey going, but they have goals in them, and will be confident of at least giving it a real go in a fortnight’s time.

The UEFA Youth League involves the Under-19 teams of the 32 UEFA Champions League entrants, plus the youth domestic champions of 32 nations.
