Met Eireann forecaster delivers ‘good news’ for Electric Picnic goers in weekend weather update but first rain to hit

He said: “The Spanish Met Service have issued a red weather warning for parts of Mallorca today and tomorrow with heavy rain and strong winds again on Thursday after bad weather hit Ibiza and Mallorca today.”

Meanwhile, a Met Eireann forecaster has shared the “good news” that the weekend will be “mostly dry” – but rain is set to batter the country first.

The weather is gearing up to be dry with sunny spells and just the odd shower for Electric Picnic weekend in Stradbally.

UV index will be moderate to high in sunshine and moderate in cloud today, while grass, nettle and weed pollen are the main sources this week with moderate pollen expected across all regions today and tomorrow.

Met Eireann Meteorologist Matthew Martin said the forecast for the next few days is “mixed and changeable” but that the weekend will bring “mostly dry weather.”

The forecaster said: “The weather will be quite mixed and changeable for the next few days, but the good news is that it looks like the weekend will bring mostly dry weather, just the odd shower.

“This morning, any mist or fog patches will soon clear, and that’s going to leave a mostly dry morning with sunny spells with just an isolated shower possible in Atlantic coastal counties.

“Mix of cloud and sunny intervals then for this afternoon, again, with just a few light showers, these mainly in the west.

“It will become overcast though across the western half of the country this evening as patchy rain and drizzle edges in from the Atlantic.

Martin continued: “Maximum temperatures today of 17C to 20C in fresh southwest winds.”
