MONALEEN senior footballer Conall Ó Duinn said his side is aiming to go one better this year and reach the Irish Wire Products Ltd County Senior Football Championship final after they fell short to the 2023 champions, Newcastle West, 0-6 to 1-9 in the semi-final’s of last years championship.

The Castletroy club will face stiff opposition against Adare, last year’s finalists, in their opening championship fixture on Thursday, June 27 at 7:30pm in Mungret.

Speaking at the launch of the Irish Wire Products Ltd County Senior Football Championship launch at the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel last week Ó Duinn stated: “We are looking to bring in a shot of young lads into the team during the first two rounds of the championship. We have obviously lost Brian Donovan and Donal O’Sullivan so we are trying to regroup and get going before the Adare game.”
