Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for the entire country.

The forecaster has issued a Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning for Ireland.

Met Éireann is warning  of “very cold” weather with “widespread frost & ice” as temperatures plummet to -3 C or below in many areas.

The weather warning is valid from 18:00 Thursday 02/01/2025 to 11:00 Friday 03/01/2025.

Potential impacts include hazardous travelling conditions and animal welfare issues. 

Met Éireann has also issued a sleet and snow weather advisory for the whole country over the weekend.

The forecaster warned: “A spell of rain will spread northwards over Ireland during the course of Saturday, turning to sleet and snow in some areas.

“Rain, sleet and snow will continue for a time on Sunday before clearing eastwards into the Irish Sea.

“Significant accumulations of snow are likely in some counties.”

Potential impacts include hazardous travelling conditions and travel & service disruption. 

The advisory is valid from 00:00 Saturday 04/01/2025 to 00:00 Monday 06/01/2025.
