A Meath man is buying up Dublin. Flush with the proceeds of the €1.4bn sale of his waste management company three years ago, Eamon Waters has been purchasing hotels, office blocks, shops and shopping malls, even Georgian townhouses on Merrion Square.
He has also become an active player on the Irish stock market, taking decent-sized stakes in a bank, a hotel group, an insurer, and a transport group. Yet, Waters is far from a household name and attracts almost no personal media coverage.
