Wicklow manager Oisín McConville says some of the best players in Wicklow won’t commit to the county team.

Wicklow Senior football manager Oisín McConville said that the elephant in the room when it comes to reflecting on the 2024 season for his side that resulted in relegation from Division 3, a Leinster championship win over Westmeath and defeat to Kildare and a quarter-final exit from the Tailteann Cup was the fact that there were seven or eight of the best footballers in the county who wouldn’t commit for a “load of different reasons”.

“The majority of them didn’t want to commit,” he told delegates at the end-of-season review on Monday evening at Echelon Park Aughrim. “They were a massive loss to us because I think they could have added to the quality of the squad.
