The dog attack happened at a residential property in the Dun Laoghaire area this afternoon.
It is the latest serious dog attack in the country in recent months which includes a fatal incident in Limerick in June.
At around 1pm today emergency services received reports of a dog attack and gardaí, including members of the Armed Support Unit, rushed to the scene.
A woman was discovered at the property and was initially treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital to be treated for what have been described as “serious injuries”.
Gardaí have begun an investigation into the incident and the circumstances of the dog attack.
Inquiries are also being made to identify the registered owner of the dogs, and it’s understood the animals were in the care of a person known to the victim.
The canines involved have since been taken into the custody of the local dog warden.
